Hello, and goodbye poem

For Wananga our class has been working on a poem called hello and goodbye. This poem is about saying hello to something and goodbye to something. We were saying goodbye to our Covid-19 lives in lockdown and saying hello to normality. This poem will have helped people move on from lockdown and leap back into normality.

Here's my Hello, and goodbye poem:

Hello to Mum waking me up in the mornings
Goodbye to having sleep ins in the mornings

Hello to seeing people in reality
Goodbye to google meets

Hello to making school lunches
Goodbye to making home cooked lunches

Hello to the netball girlieees
Goodbye to netball in the driveway

Hello to normality and freedom
Goodbye to lockdown

Kiwi Baker - Spiced Cinnamon Apple Muffins

Last Friday for home economics we made spiced cinnamon apple muffins. Making spiced cinnamon apple muffins was really enjoyable. My group made the normal spiced cinnamon apple muffins for home economics. This time we made the dough perfectly compared to the last 2 times. I didn't really like them as there wasn't much flavor throughout the muffin.

This is what our spiced cinnamon apple muffins look like

Kiwi Baker - Pizza swirls

Last Friday for home economics we made pizza swirls. Making pizza swirls we another good start to the partical side of home economics. My group made tomato paste, cheese, onion and bacon pizza swirls. This time we didn't over work our dough and also we didn't cook to pizza swirls to far a apart. So my group and I have learnt from our mistakes from the scones and made the pizza swirls way better.

This is what pizza swirls look like if you didn't know

In our first week of Music Hurumanu we did things along the lines of creating a presentation on a New Zealand solo singer and a New Zealand band. For my solo singer I choose Stan Walker and for my band I choose Six-60. I choose Stan Walker because he's one of my favorite solo artists. I choose Six-60 because their songs are amazing created and sang.

Community Impact Project

Today in the Tāne Māhuta Community Impact project group we did things along the lines of gardening and cleaning the greenhouse out. I was only there for 30 minutes because of Kapa Haka and Kiwi Kaha. We added horse manure to the other half of our trench we dug, we added horse manure because it's compost and organic, we also added little pieces of horse manure where the beetroot, cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli are growing. We also continued weeding the old greenhouse out and removing lose concrete blocks. We also planted more vegetables called spinach, celery and coriander. The other half of Tāne Māhuta continued cleaning out the classroom we are building. There were sewing, shoveling and weeding the outside section of the classroom.

In Kapa Haka we continued by learning the actions of the song we learnt last week. Which the song is called Whakarongo, it's a himene (Hymn) to the māori culture.

Here's a video to the song and actions of Whakarongo:

Here's the slideshow to my famous singer who is Buddy Holly:

Here's my slide presentation:

Hope you enjoy this slide presentation about column strategy's.

Crazy Crystals

Aim: To learn about a saturated solution and how to make crystals.

Definition of solution:
A liquid mixture, when something is dissolved into a liquid.
(Eg; Sugar, salt and borax and water.)

Definition of saturated:
Having or holding as much as can be absorbed of something.
(when no more sugar, salt and borax can be dissolved into the water)

Borax's Crystals

Materials

1: Plastic cup
2: Plastic spoon
3: 3 pipe cleaners
4: 1 Peg
5: 1/2 cup of warm water
6: 4 table spoons of borax

Process

Step 1: As a group we went up to the teachers are got 3 pipe cleaner, a peg, a cup with warm water and borax. We also got a plastic spoon to mix's the ingredients together.
Step 2: My teammate twisted the 3 pipe cleaners into a star, then put a peg on one color.
Step 3: Then we all had a turn mixing the borax's into the warm water, and making shaw it was saturated.
Step 4: After mixing the ingredients together I got a piece of paper and write our names and the types of crystals.
Step 5: Then we put the plastic cup with the ingredients on the paper, and we then put it on a red tray.

Sugar Crystals

Materials

1: Plastic cup
2: Plastic spoon
3: 1 pipe cleaner
4: 1 peg
5: 1/2 cup of warm water
6: 7 tablespoons of sugar

Process

Step 1: As a group we went up to the teachers are got 1 pipe cleaner, a peg, a cup with warm water and sugar. We also got a plastic spoon to mixed the ingredients together.
Step 2: Then we all had a turn mixing the sugar into the warm water, and making shaw it was saturated.
Step 3: After mixing the ingredients together, we wrote sugar crystals on the plastic cup.
Step 4: Then we put the plastic cup with the ingredients on the paper, and we then put it on a red tray.

Salt Crystals

Materials

1: Plastic cup
2: Plastic spoon
3: 1 pipe cleaner
4: 1 Peg

Step 1: As a group we went up to the teachers are got 1 pipe cleaner, a peg, a cup with warm water and salt. We also got a plastic spoon to mixed the ingredients together.
Step 2: Then we all had a turn mixing the salt into the warm water, and making sure it was saturated.
Step 3: After mixing the ingredients together, we wrote salt crystals on the plastic cup.
Step 4: Then we put the plastic cup with the ingredients on the paper, and we then put it on a red tray.

Borax crystal results - 2 Photo's

Salt crystal results - 2 photo's

What crystals worked out best and why?
The borax's crystals were the best, because the pipe cleaner star formed more crystals on the bottom half than what the salt or sugar one did.

Tāne Māhuta

Today 7/8Al, 7/8Mt, 7/8Ts & 7/8Wh were working around the garden and compost bins. All of us started picking plums and picking up rubbish, sticks and garden waste in the compost bins.

Where?
Firstly we went to the garden, we picked plums to eat and make so yummy food out of. After having a hand full of plums, we put them into a black clean rubbish bag. Once we through we had enough, we left with about 4 bags half full of plums. Secondly we went to the compost bin near the garden, we were picking rubbish, sticks and garden waste up. Once all the rubbish we could see was gone, everybody started picking up the sticks and garden waste.

Something I want to make with our plums:

  2. Cream the butter and sugar until light. ...
  3. Add the lemon juice and rind, then stir in the flour mixture a little at a time.
  4. Put the batter into a greased, flat cake tin or tart dish. ...
  5. Press the stoned, halved plums into the batter, cut side up and close together.
